HOW DOES OXIDE OCCUR?

Oxidation occurs when electrons are lost during a reaction. When this happens, the state of the molecule, atom, or ion increases. Oxidation is typically a reaction of oxygen and atmospheric moisture — such as rain or snow — on metal.
