Our laser systems have cleaned just about everything — from the pyramids to fighter jets for the US Air Force. And despite being in the business for almost two decades, we’re still learning the extent of what our lasers can clean. That’s because opportunities to push the boundaries continue to present themselves, and we learn new ways that operators in every industry can leverage our laser systems.
3 WAYS OUR LASERS ARE COMMONLY USED
1. HISTORIC RESTORATION
Unlike media blasting options, laser solutions provide a gentle, yet effective clean for historic buildings and conservation projects. And, because it absorbs contaminants as it removes them, it can safely handle hazardous coatings such as lead-based paint.
Whether it’s a statue impacted by oxides or a building constructed when coal and smoke pollution were rampant, we can efficiently remove contaminants from your substrate without affecting the integrity or putting your operators at risk. And, because we don’t require a secondary cleaning process to handle hazardous materials, you can clean your products faster.
2. PRE-WELD/BRAZING TREATMENT
One of the most common problems we run into are oxides on metal products. Depending on the type of metal, oxides can corrode and break down the asset. Sometimes, these contaminants are a combination of coatings and corrosion. Our laser solutions effectively remove oxides like rust without harming the base layer. This leaves a pristine surface ideal for welding and brazing treatment.
By eliminating contaminants, you can create a strong bond when welding. That’s because there won’t be a layer preventing your parts from bonding together. By removing rust and other contaminants, you’ll not only extend the lifespan of your bond but also the end product.
3.COATING REMOVAL
From removing oxides from metals to safely absorbing hazardous coatings — such as chrome or lead-based paint — our laser solutions are designed to quickly and effectively clean your product. We’ve applied the same cleaning process in a variety of different ways.
Often, a new business will inquire about a particular chemical or material that we’ve never cleaned before. But, just because we’ve never encountered it, doesn’t mean that our laser solutions aren’t ideal for the job. That’s why we conduct extensive testing to find the right solution for the job — if there is one. These questions lead us to remove coatings that we would have never thought possible, including grease, corrosion, chemicals, paints, and more.
IS LASER CLEANING RIGHT FOR YOUR BUSINESS?
We’ve worked with a variety of different industries — from military and defense to energy and aerospace. We’ve cleaned rust from a US navy warship and safely removed contaminants from inside a major nuclear power plant. But, despite our extensive experience, we don’t typically know if our solutions are right for your product until we’ve had a chance to test them ourselves — unless, of course, we’ve previously created a solution for your exact product.
During our sales process, we conduct extensive lab testing to identify which solution will work best for your business — both from a technical and operational standpoint. This process is designed to consider everything. The most common aspects include:
- Your environment
- Type of product being cleaned
- Specific operational requirements
- Material substrates
- And more
Whatever your project, we’re excited to be a part of it. That’s why we aren’t afraid to push the limits and find new ways to use our lasers for your project. Together with our partner, cleanLASER, we can create solutions that do more than we’ve ever done before. So, you won’t know if our laser systems are right for your business until you talk to us.
