High Power vs Mid Power vs Low Power

Cleaning Lasers High Power vs Mid Power vs Low Power

Our laser solutions are known for providing pristine cleaning and optimal mobility, but the most common misconception is that high-powered means a better laser solution than a low- or mid-powered solution. That myth causes a lot of misinformation and is the first hurdle we attempt to overcome in our sales process. But, if high-powered laser solutions aren’t more intense than low-powered solutions, then how do they work, and what are the differences?

HOW DO LASER SYSTEMS WORK?

Our laser solutions produce thousands of light pulses per second to absorb and remove contaminants — including rust, grime, hazardous paint, and more — from targeted areas. They produce little to no additional waste, which means you don’t require a secondary cleaning solution. Plus, laser solutions are safer than other media blasting options.

From robotic attachments to handheld options, our laser solutions fall into the low, mid, and high-powered categories. While each laser solution effectively removes contaminants, its intensity and the surface area it cleans vary. By adjusting the cleaning rate, we can modify how large a surface area it can clean and how quickly the contaminants can be removed. But, having the quickest laser isn’t always the best option for your product.

HIGH-POWERED LASER SOLUTIONS

Our high-powered laser solutions provide our widest laser options available and operate anywhere from 1000 to 1600 wattage. This means you can cover more targeted space in less time, but it’s not the most suitable solution for every product. High-powered solutions work optimally for:

  • Removing large areas of paint
  • Removing rust and corrosion from metal
  • Decontaminating nuclear-contaminated surfaces
  • Pre-cleaning for paint

Not only have high-powered solutions been cleared and approved by the US Air Force, but they’ve served as the leading cleaning solution for Navy warships, fighter jets, and other military vehicles. We currently offer two high-powered solutions: CL1000 and CL2000.

MID-POWERED LASER SOLUTIONS

Our mid-powered laser solutions may cover slightly less area during one sweep, but it’s just as effective as our high-powered laser systems operating between 100 to 1000 wattage. Despite its surface area, our laser cleans up to 15x faster than media blasting options — such as dry ice blasting. It’s most suitable for:

  • Mold cleaning
  • Removing rust and hazardous paints
  • Pre-adhesion cleaning
  • Pre-weld cleaning

Our mid-powered solutions offer higher quality for lower porosity welds and are the ideal option for bonding preparation. That’s why they’ve been used by some of the biggest names in the Automotive and Airline space — including Spirit Aerosystems and Toyota. We currently offer four mid-powered solutions:

CL150

CL300

CL500

CL600

LOW-POWERED LASER SOLUTIONS

Don’t let the gentle cleaning power of the low-powered laser solutions fool you. This system is just as effective as the other higher wattage solutions — operating between 20 to 100. Because it covers less surface area, this laser solution is perfect for smaller products that require optimal accuracy. That’s why it’s ideal for:

  • Targeted, delicate-substrate paint removal
  • Adhesive pre-treatment
  • Pre-bonding treatment for polymer materials
  • Historic restoration cleaning

The gentle and precise cleaning offered by our low-powered solutions makes it an essential tool for cleaning your smallest and most delicate products. It’s been used for historical restoration across the globe — including by Conservations Solutions and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. We currently offer three low-powered solutions:

CL20 Backpack

CL50

CL50FFC

CL100

CL100FFC

CHOOSING THE RIGHT LASER

While there are many aspects that impact finding the right laser solution for your needs, it comes down to two points: technical and operational. That’s why the best way to determine the right laser for your product is to test it in our on-site lab. We’ll ask you a few questions about your product, test it for ourselves, and then custom-build a laser system that is the perfect fit.
